Observations

M45 - The Pleiades

With only limited observing time available I chose to only take out the ED80 on the portable alt-az mount. This offers wide fields of view, especially paired with the 2" 30mm eyepiece. My first stop was the Pleiades which sits nicely in the field of view.

The Three Amigos in Auriga

M36, M37, M38

M15

Although Hercules is less than ideally placed in the western sky near a lot of street lighting, it was still fairly easy to locate the keystone and hop quickly to M15. With the 2" 30mm eyepiece this globular cluster appears as a grey circle with a dense, brighter centre. There was some evidence of granularity.

Mars

M31

Always a good target for the wide field of view of the 80ED, Andromeda looked excellent, stretching out across the 30mm eyepiece. There was evidence of the sharp line of the near dark lane.
