Observations

Crescent Moon and Venus

Despite the fact that it has snowed more often than not the last few days (and twice I've taken my tripod out under crystal clear skies only to get snowed on minutes later...) it was a beautifully clear evening and as I washed up the dishes I noticed a lovely crescent Moon with Venus shining brightly just above it. My camera was quickly procured and I took a few shots of this beautiful event - the two hanging brightly in the crystal-clear twilight. Here are a couple which pick up the Earthshine nicely but aren't as sharp as they should be.

In order to capture the Earthshine I had to overexpose slightly, here is the result with a "mega-moon mountain" seen at the lower limb.
