Aberdeen Model Railway Exhibition
After visiting two years ago this year I returned once again to the sports hall at RGU for Aberdeen Model Railway Club’s annual exhibition. Again, there was a good variety of layouts with representation from N, OO, O and G gauges and a good range of eras from steam through to diesel era British Rail and modern franchises.
I particularly enjoyed the sight of long steam-hauled passenger and freight services on Perth MRC’s layout Laurencekirk.
Horseshoe Curve by Elgin MRC brought impressive modelwork and long trains together with an ambitious American layout featuring gradients, curves and a very high trestle bridge.
As expected Aberdeen MRC were there in force and their huge O layout, Strathdon, was very impressive despite having a few operational difficulties.
My favourite set was Elgin by Edward Burt which seemed to only feature curves and represented mid-70s British Rail at its best, 47s and 37s all over the place.
There are a few more general photos of layouts on this blog from a local modeller.
